Re: Petite Knock Out Rose - AVOID

Same here, and just as importantly, I won't support that behavior by giving them my money. The dollar in my hand is one of my most valuable "votes". It is THE one which counts. People can and will say anything, but it's what they put their money behind that does and says it all. Quite right. We don...

Re: Barden Atomics - Dakota Redwing

I think it is an elegant rose with subtle coloring. I look forward to growing it. I'm delighted to communicate with its originator. Thanks! Don't get me wrong, its a nice enough rose. Its just not going to advance efforts to enhance Blackspot resistance. Its got fantastic color (photos don't do it ...

Re: Barden Atomics - Dakota Redwing

'Dakota Redwing' is a cross of 'Brown Velvet' and 'Midnight Blue'. While it may indeed have virtues worth exploring in further hybridizing, disease resistance is not one of them.

Re: Rosa sericea as a parent rose?

R. sericea is a very difficult species to work with. I never got any viable seeds from attempted crosses I made. I suspect this species will only work with other species in its own group. Years ago Gregg Lowery gave me a plant of R. Pteragonis, a cross of sericea pteracantha and R. hugonis . It loo...

Re: Rose Rosette News

I wouldn't dare conclude that the entirety of a species is resistant until a genetically diverse group of a large number of plants all display resistance. Resistant individuals aren't evidence of species-wide resistance. I have a Port Orford Cedar in front of the house that is ancient and continues ...

This plant has bloomed out. I did not collect pollen so the offer has ended.

Re: Red Dawn X Suzanne pollen available

By the way, if I receive any requests for pollen where the person does not provide a full name and complete mailing address, you can assume I will ignore the request. I have no patience for folks who make me play a guessing game just to get a simple task like mailing pollen done. Thank you.

Re: Red Dawn X Suzanne pollen available

Paul, so very glad to see you back on the forum! How goes it with the little carnivorous guys? ;-) Hi Philip! I'm good. I've culled the Nepenthes out of the greenhouse (after five years I discovered - as many people do - what weeds they get to be.... no fun) and reassigned that greenhouse for Heirl...

Plenty of roses Burling grows and propagates that don't appear on any lists, her own included!

Red Dawn X Suzanne pollen available

I now have Red Dawn X Suzanne pollen available. This is the old Simonet hybrid that contributed to many cold hardy hybrid lines. http://www.helpmefind.com/rose/l.php?l=2.46261&tab=1

Re: Here is another one I need help with

It shows enough stipule to make me quite certain that is R. multiflora. I have some nearly thornless seed grown plants of it that have very little fringing in the stipules. The Cercospora supports that ID!

Re: 54-08-09

Anyway, where did you get the idea that I wanted to steal your germplasm of a plant you bred (if I understand you) I asked for L83. That is not 54 08 08. I fixed the whitespace if that caused the misunderstanding. I understand how you made an error in formatting the message about L83, and your revi...

Re: 54-08-09

Anyone have L83?54-08-08 is the best looking one, I think. A nice rich rosepurple. You contacted me in private to request this variety and I explained that 1) the plant no longer exists (it was killed last winter in a freeze) and since I didn't distribute it to anyone, that is the end of that (I'm ...
