Re: I'm new here, so I'd like to say hi!
Hi Josh, My wife and I are in our 3rd year hybridizing in the Seattle/Olympic area. Coming from a software / data science background I'm personally obsessed with the tracking and process optimization. We manage our rose database in Airtable and we have out DYMO label printer hooks up to a little Ras...

Re: rugosa x glauca seedling
My wife is not a fan of the rugosa ( they look too similar to one-another ) so we only have one rugosa Hansa in our breeding stock. Despite this we did one cross this year with Hansa x Glauca so we will see how that develops. The pollen on glauca is easy to work with, but we have not had any success...

Re: Experience with Hansa?
None of our experimental Hansa crosses worked out this year, but it was a limited sample of 12 with 10 unique pollen parents.
Given the poor rate of success and low sample size it’s hard for us to establish whether it was the crosses or the technique.

Re: counting the ploidy level...
This is a bit of an old thread; but it seems to be most relevant to my interests. I’m attempting to get images of chromosomes in metaphase by adapting a procedure from the following paper: A New Procedure to Prepare Slides of Metaphase Chromosomes of Roses Yan Ma, M. Nurul Islam-Faridi - Texas A&M -...

Park's Yellow Tea Scented China (Siji Danhuang Xiangshui Yueji)
I'm doing a bit of research into the genetic history of chinese roses and I was hoping someone could clear something up regarding Park's Yellow Tea Scented China (Siji Danhuang Xiangshui Yueji). The helpme find database for this rose states: "According to Mr. George Gordon (1806-1879), Superintenden...
