Re: HelpMeFind Issues

My AVG anti virus protection was doing that too. I have uninstalled it for now and put in Bitdefender temporarily. This happened to me once 3 or 4 years ago. Eventually AVG sorted it self out and I reinstalled it. Hope this helps.

Re: olds college rose

Olds College rose gets downy mildew some years but not frequently. The institution "Olds College" is in zone 3 Canada (-37 to -34C) and the rose is crown hardy most years. I grew out one op seedling which resembled the mother but was discarded because it did not clean well..

Hardwood cuttings in zone 3 (-40 to -30F) Canada

I am looking for some suggestions or techniques other cold climate growers have used to propagate roses by hardwood cuttings. Sticking directly into the ground in the fall is not successful here (Alberta) due to deep frost penetration. Thank you in advance for your ideas.

Re: Can somebody diagnose this rose?

Hi Julie Your rose is being eaten by rose sawfly larvae. We have had a lot of problems with it in Alberta, Canada this year. https://www.missouribotanicalgarden.org/gardens-gardening/your-garden/help-for-the-home-gardener/advice-tips-resources/pests-and-problems/insects/sawflies/rose-and-pear-slugs-...

Re: Can You Grow Roses in Iceland?

Some have had trouble viewing the complete video which is nearly 45 minutes long. Here is a zipped version which I have been told does work.
Sorry for the inconvenience.

New Study - Glyphosate affects R. acicularis fertility

This study may be of interest to those who have had glyphosate applied near their roses. "An herbicide widely used in agriculture, forestry and other applications can cause deleterious effects on the reproductive health of a common perennial plant found in forests in British Columbia, Canada. Resear...

Re: Scandinavian Import ID Challenge - Needle in Haystack Quest?

Rick The blossom looks like 'Holland Double White altai' to me. However the foliage of your rose is not very spino looking. To my eyes the lanceolate shaped leaves in the foreground resemble the leaves of 'White Mountains". 'Beauty of Leafland' has a lot of pink/yellow tones deep in the blossom and ...

Re: Pollen from Canary Bird

Johannes You might try this person in Quebec who lists Canary Bird on HMF https://www.helpmefind.com/gardening/l.php?l=3.4560 Or if you are really desperate you can have my frozen pollen of Canary Bird, Father Hugo and Rosa alabukensis. They have been frozen for a few years but the pollen looks OK i...
