I spotted a rose growing in an old vacant lot, if it ever was a lot. It is still growing up, fighting the grass and weeds. At first sight from the road I was expecting a Gallica, as I saw short branches sticking straight up with pink buds on top. But as I came closer I spotted a few longer branches bent over with the weight of the flowers. There is a powerful Old Rose (Damask) perfume.
Now wondering, Alba, Damask, Gallica??? I've never grown any of them. I will attach pictures of the flower, leaves and patch growing in the weeds. I think it must be a thicket close to twenty feet long. I am going to try to go back and measure branches, flower, thicket.
Any thoughts on what this might be???
